About
Step into a new conversation about "Siam" at the exhibition "สนทนาสยามร่วมสมัย: ตอนคนแปลกหน้า" at Museum Siam.
Museum Siam invites you to transcend time, question the past, and discover Thai history from perspectives you may have never encountered before — through its 2026 rotating exhibition, **"สนทนาสยามร่วมสมัย: ตอนคนแปลกหน้า" (THAI DIALOGUE: FOREIGN QUOTE)**.
**Travel back to an era without borders**
Did you know that the Siamese once saw the world in an entirely different way? In a time before clearly drawn national boundaries, the vast seas were filled with stories and rumors, distant lands were intertwined with ancient myths, and people from across the world traveled, traded, met, and exchanged civilizations along long-established maritime networks.
**When the "New World" arrived — and Siam's perspective shifted**
As time passed and the world entered an age of change, ships from distant lands brought goods, religions, knowledge, maps, and a "new way of seeing" to Siam — one defined by observation, detailed documentation, measurement, classification, and a fundamentally different way of understanding the world. When this new world arrived, Siam didn't merely encounter "strangers." It began to see the world — and itself — in a completely new light. From an increasingly interconnected world driven by power and civilization, to an era in which people began building nations, constructing memories, and shaping a shared idea of "us."
